Highland ponies are easier to keep than full-sized horses; they eat less than a horse.
Animals of this breed grow to a height of 13-14.2 hands. Their weight ranges from 450 to 550 kg. Their head is well-carried; the muzzle is broad with kind eyes and deep jowl. Their body is well-balanced and compact with deep chest.
