With the clydesdale, riding is not a common useage, it is more of a working/draft horse and the foals or baby horses, are kept at their sides. This horse breed originated in Scotland in the middle of 1700s. It was specially bred for the work in harness. The breed benefited when the blood of Flemish stallions was introduced to native mares. The horses were exported to many regions of the world and became very popular. With the clydesdale, riding is not a common useage, it is more of a working/draft horse and the foals or baby horses, are kept at their sides.
